After being discarded by her original owner in 2017 and ending up at the Walton County Animal Shelter, MOKA’s wild journey took an amazing turn when Paul & Teri Dailey adopted her and made her part of their family.  Even though Boykin Spaniels (South Carolina State Dog) are bred to hunt – MOKA’s path went in a different direction.  She’s more of a PRINCESS than a HUNTER.  Being scared of guns and not liking water was a bad combination for a so-called “hunting dog”.

After being adopted, MOKA’s journey as taken her to faraway places like South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Alabama & Florida.  She loves the beach as long as the waves don’t splash up on her.  Her favorite thing to do is ride in her dad’s “BIG TRUCK” so she can stick her head out the window while standing in his lap.  Many mornings, she stands at the door wondering why she can go to work with her daddy.  MOKA also loves to get her leash & harness and let us know that she’s ready to go for a walk.  On our walks she displays her keen smelling skills by stopping to smell everything in our path.

Her most recent journey was surviving being hit by a car on Christmas Day 2024.  MOKA was extremely lucky and only sustained minor injuries.

When I look back at the life of MOKA – it’s safe to say that she’s an extremely lucky dog to be adopted into a loving home – but, in reality – we’re the lucky ones to have found her.
